On April 14, Minmetals Resources Co., Ltd. (a company listed on MMG Hong Kong Stock Exchange), a subsidiary of China Minmetals Corporation (China Minmetals) announced that it was jointly invested by MMG, Guoxin International Investment Co., Ltd. (Guoxin International) and CITIC Metal Co., Ltd. (CITIC Metal) formed a consortium with Glencore Xstrata plc (Glencore) to acquire the Las Bambas copper project (the Bombes Project) equity acquisition agreement for a consideration of $ 5.85 billion. Bombas is one of the largest copper mines under construction in the world. The acquisition of the Bombas project has also become the largest offshore acquisition in the history of the Chinese metal mining industry.
