本文为著名的加拿大多伦多大学图书情报研究生院院长安·H·沙巴斯所著。翻译此文的目的,一是便于国内同行直接吸收国外对标引语言的研究成果,二是可提供研究方法的借鉴。后者的意义也绝不亚于前者。重研究方法、重数据分析是国外图书馆学、情报学专业论文的显著特点,本文可见一斑。而这对于实实在在地提高我国国书馆学、情报学的研究水平及专业论文的质量,是不可缺少的。译者在国外进修深有此感,故特别选择了此文译出,希望读者的兴趣不仅仅在于其研究结果,更应重视其研究方法与过程。
This article is written by Ann H. Habas, dean of the prestigious Graduate School of Library and Information Sciences at the University of Toronto in Canada. The purpose of the translation of this article is to facilitate domestic counterparts to directly absorb foreign research results of the indexing language, and secondly, to provide reference for research methods. The latter’s significance is no less than the former. Emphasis on research methods, heavy data analysis is a significant feature of foreign library science, information science professional papers, this article can be seen. And this is indispensable for the real improvement of China’s library science, information science research level and the quality of professional papers. The translator has a deep sense of what to do in foreign countries. Therefore, he chose this article specially to translate it. He hoped readers’ interest not only lies in their research results, but also should pay more attention to their research methods and processes.
