关于古代的昆仑、昆仑奴或僧祇奴,中外学者研究论著颇多,所据资料亦大致相同。如早在20世纪80年代以前,有法国费琅(G.Ferrand)、张星烺、冯承钧、朱杰勤等研究中外关系史的专家~([1]),以及杜葆仁先生等~([2]);80年代后,有步连生、沈福伟、孙机先生等~([3])。其中,步连生撰《试论我国古代雕塑的昆仑人及其有关问题》一文,蒐罗中国汉代起至宋代有关“昆仑人”(包括昆仑奴)的史籍文献及各种文物形象资料(如陶俑、青铜遗物、石刻造像等)甚为全面,并论述这些昆仑人形象是反映今东南亚(南海诸国)和非洲黑人掠买到中国为奴的情况。孙机撰《唐俑中的昆仑和僧祇》一
