“For today’s China cotton textile industry, weak demand is still one of the main factors affecting the development of industry.” Recently, this publication reporter interview the vice president of China Cotton Textile Association, Ye Jianchun, he said.
Since the 2008 financial, crisis the international markets have not been obviously improved, combined with the coming of the China economy “new normal”, the economic downward pressure caused a huge complex situation for the overall development in textile industry, cotton textile industry can not be an exception.
“In addition to the weak demand, cotton spinning industry faces its own unique structure of raw material,” vice president Ye told reporters: “Enterprises are very difficult to find qualified cotton that meet the production demands on cotton spot market in China.”As to vice president Ye refers to “meet the demand of enterprise production quality level” is about mainly the high quality cotton.
It is well known that three years of cotton purchases have brought huge damage to cotton spinning enterprises in China, thousands of inside and outside spreads make enterprises overburdened, in order to insist on producing, many enterprises have to start turning to the non-cotton fiber, coupled with the impact of the low-price cotton and cotton yarn from Southeast Asia, domestic enterprises have gradually abandoned the competition in low quality grade cotton yarn market and instead concentrate on the production of high quality grade cotton yarn and cloth, however, due to the national policies and market competition enterprises fall into the raw materials predicament, as a result, that the enterprises can’t buy high quality cotton, who are very upset.
Vice president Ye told reporter there are some historical reasons of lack of high quality cotton in China: “in fact, in the past our Xinjiang cotton quality is far higher than American cotton and Australian cotton, but over the years we have been guided by ‘raising output’ as cotton industry policy, Xinjiang cotton gradually loses the quality advantage of the past.” However, vice president Ye even told reporters that a good news: “China Cotton Textile Associationhas made research at the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and reached agreement with The Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps recently, that will greatly improve the quality of cotton in the future to fulfill the demand of domestic cotton spinning enterprises.”
Chinese cotton spinning enterprises struggling to survive in so serious raw materials structure predicaments must encounter both the weak demand in foreign markets and internal rising production cost , especially labor costs, which is huge to operating pressure of the enterprises. “Must be admitted that, because many enterprises is unable to change, it is very serious situation that a lot of order left to Southeast Asia nowadays, especially some low-end products of cotton yarn, cloth and garments.” Vice president Ye tells the reporter, “but many high-end brand processing still choose to stay in China, compared with Southeast Asia overall level of production, either from the grade of maturity of the industrial chain, quality stability or aftersales service, China is still the greatest comprehensive strength country.”
In Ye’s view they are most powerful china spinning enterprises in the industry who insist on producing so far, “these enterprises in terms of product quality, capital and talent reserves have experienced the most difficult test, he believe that once the market improved, these enterprises will have a burst.”
Besides, vice president Ye also figured that, in recent years, China’s cotton textile industry is growing rapidly in equipment manufacturing field, from the front of combined winding machine to back of automatic winding machine, domestic textile machinery enterprises can afford all production for demands, but there is also a big gap from foreign companies on leading market, and consciousness of research and development from the customer viewpoint. Ye said: “The future trend of cotton textile technology is developing forward to automation, high speed, intelligent and informative direction.”
