Magnetic storm is a complex geophysical effect caused by the interaction between solar activity and geomagnetic field. The relevance of the activities between them has been given some qualitative understanding. For example, a statistical analysis of the 580 solar flares from 1937 to 1959 shows that 50% of the large flares can cause a magnetic storm. And the 11-year period change between sunspot number and degree of geomagnetic activity (u). In order to understand the relationship between magnetic storms and sunspots, this paper makes use of the relative numbers of sunspots and the annual numbers of magnetic storms in 1948-1978 years in Japan (the information of which is lacking in 1959-1962)
