For the first time in August 2002, Norsk Hydroas Norway installed an industrial multifiber pressure thermometer in a single well, along with a distributed temperature sensing (DTS) fiber and a ground-based smart completion Flow controller. The system is installed in Well E 11C of the Oseberg st (East) field in the Norwegian North Sea. The operating company has demonstrated that it is imperative that the pressure status of the reservoir be fully mastered. In order to realize the optimal management of oilfield waterflooding plan, it is necessary to conduct well operations on the basis of accurately grasping the long-term reservoir pressure. The smart well system consists of multiple fiber temperature and pressure gauges and a distributed temperature sensing fiber. All fiber optic sensors are manufactured by Weatherford, Inc. These sensors are used with WellDynamics’ ground-based intelligent well completion flow controllers. After the system was installed, the downhole sensor group has provided a large amount of data for day-to-day production management and made possible strategic reservoir management over the life of the field. Temperature and pressure gauges in E-11C wells provide continuous temperature and pressure data for both zones, and distributed temperature sensing fibers measure the temperature of the entire wellbore. Use an in fiber optic cable to send data to the ground. This article describes the applicable technologies and benefits of installing the system and the completion methods used.
