The Chinese Cultural Center is the official cultural institution stationed by the Chinese government abroad. It is a window for promoting Chinese culture abroad, and a platform for exchange and cooperation so as to enhance the bridge of understanding and mutual trust. In 1988, China’s first batch of Chinese cultural centers were opened to the outside world in Mauritius and Benin in Africa. As of January 2014, with the opening of the China Cultural Center in Nigeria and the opening of the China Cultural Center in Madrid, the total number of overseas Chinese cultural centers in operation is 14. Over the years, overseas Chinese cultural centers have focused on their four major functions and opened up high-frequency and uninterruptedly in culture and related fields
