Dewey usually uses a few everyday words in his specialized philosophical writings, but gives them philosophical meanings, especially those used in criticizing modern epistemological philosophy. There are two aspects of such application. The good part is that it is easy to understand and shows the popularity of philosophy. Because he is mainly writing and speaking for the general public, he does not pay much attention to purely theoretical research. The bad aspect is the normative issue that led to academic research. It has been criticized as vaguely worded, and its theory is not clear and clear. Both of these aspects are academic issues that we need to take seriously for philosophical research nowadays.
