苦麻菜又叫野莴苣、良麻、莱菜、鹅菜等。1972年河北畜牧兽医研究所从江苏、湖北等省引入2.5斤种子,分发到21个单位试种,经过几年,到1978年全省各地播种面积已扩大到4.8万亩,并支援外地种籽十多万斤。据河北师大等单位分析,新鲜苦麻菜含粗蛋白质2.6％,风干苦麻菜含粗蛋白质26.25％。一般亩产在1.5—2.0万斤,高产者可达3万斤以上。
