Objective To observe the hypoglycemic effect of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine mixture Tianma Xiaoke Tablet on diabetic model rats. Methods Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: model group, Tianma Xiaoke group, simple Chinese herbal medicine group and picolinic acid Chromium group, 8 in each group and 8 healthy rats as control group. The rats in the control group and model group were fed with normal saline daily. The rats in the traditional Chinese medicine group were fed with 0.197g / kg Chinese herbal extract daily and the chromium picolinate group was fed with 3.2 mg / kg chromium picolinate daily Wheat Diabetes group daily dosing 0.24g / kg Tian Mai Diabetes tablets, a total of 4 weeks. At 0, 2, and 4 weeks, blood glucose, intake of water and food intake of rats in each group were measured. Body weight was measured at 0 and 4 weeks. HbA1c, insulin and serum lipids were measured at the end of the experiment. Results At the end of the experiment, the blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin, body weight, water intake and food intake of Tianmaxiake group and Chromium picolinate group were lower than those of the model group (P <0.05) There is a certain decline but the difference was not statistically significant (P> 0.05). Insulin levels in diabetic rats were significantly higher than those in the untreated group (P <0.05). Conclusions Chromium picolinate has a synergistic effect with traditional Chinese medicine components in Tianma Xiaoke Tablet and has the effects of reducing blood sugar and improving the symptoms of diabetes in diabetic rats.
