曾几何时,美国新一代步枪的选型被各媒体炒得沸沸扬扬,来势轰轰。“XM8”枪族犹如世界歌坛上的一颗耀眼“新星”,引来“追星族”们几近疯狂的追星赶月,叫好之声此起彼伏。一时间,“XM8”枪族似有当今步枪之最,进而引领世界步兵武器潮流的气势! 猛地看来,“XM8”枪族确实了不得。“XM8”枪族作为美国新研制的一代步兵射击武器族,的确是极尽“新先”之能事,浑身处处都体现着当今典型的“新先”特征。倒是后来有消息爆出大冷门,说是由于美国各方在口径的选择问题上仍存有争论,五角大楼早在2005年7月份就已经冻结了“XM8”枪族的研制工作,此后不久又做出了终止“XM8”计划的最终决定。在“XM8”枪族历经起伏跌宕,以至尘埃落定之余,我不禁想起了20年前美国“四种先进战斗步枪”选型的情景,也是这样喧嚣一时,也是这样转瞬沉寂。不禁诧叹：历史竟是这样惊人
