中国测绘学会于1962年6月11日在北京召开了驻京常务理事会，会议概要如下：（一）会议首先中学会秘书长周先扬同志汇报了学会半年来工作概要，中心是贯彻执行1961年12月理事会扩大会议的各项决议，主要进行了下述工作：总结去年年底大地、航测两个学术会议的经验，整理大地、航测两个学术会议的资料，并将有关讨论结果的建议转送有关部门参考；提出1962年各专业学术会议的工作计划，并奉准今年召开两个专业性学术年会（制图和测绘仪器）；测绘学报于今年第一季度复刊，测绘译丛的筹备与复刊；总局拨交的全国测绘科学技术经验会议资料选编的分发；关于“辞海”中测绘名词释义的讨论和修改等等。下半年的主要工作，一是抓紧制图和测绘仪器两个专业学术年会的准备工作，一是办好测绘学报和测绘译丛两个刊物。最后就有关省市要求成立地方测绘学会问题，提请会议研究。目前除已有7个地方测绘学会（包括今年5月已正式成立的陕西省测绘学会和最近批准成立的云南省测绘学会）外，余如广东、河北、浙江、辽宁、新疆、内蒙、广西、江西等省曾多次来函和派人前来联系成立学会事。
