Chromatographic analysis of gaseous hydrocarbons recorded by mud logging is the first indication of reservoir fluid properties and the ratio calculation of these data may enhance the interpretation of this data and prompt well site geologists to identify important horizons for further testing. It has been found that in order to effectively interpret mud logging gas records, the results must be plotted on a depth map for easy integration with other data. In this way, a new method to explain the C_1-C_5 gas data ratio calculation is proposed, which can be used for early evaluation of reservoir fluid types and for post-well evaluation of wireline and mud logging data during well drilling.
