由于硼酸及硼酸酯类化合物的制备难度大,导致它们在制药行业中的应用受限,目前仅3个该类药物获FDA批准上市。羧酸具有数量多、便宜、结构多样等特点,因此是用来制备硼酸的理想原料,但迄今为止,人们尚无法将羧酸转变为硼酸。最近,斯克里普斯研究所(TSRI)的化学家开发出一种以羧酸为原料,轻易地将羧酸转化为成结构相似的硼酸及相关化合物的方法。研究的相关结果发表在2017年4月13日的《Science》期刊上。
Since boric acid and boric acid ester compounds are difficult to manufacture, their use in the pharmaceutical industry is limited. Currently, only three of these drugs are approved by the FDA. Carboxylic acids are abundant, cheap, and diverse in structure, and are therefore ideal starting materials for the preparation of boric acid. However, carboxylic acids have so far not been converted to boric acid. More recently, chemists at the Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) have developed a method that uses carboxylic acids as starting materials to easily convert carboxylic acids into structurally similar boronic acids and related compounds. The results of the study were published in the April 13, 2017 issue of Science.
