Sweden is a small and dynamic forestry country, with 0.6% of the world’s forest land and 15% of the international timber products market. Since 1900, many factors have had a significant impact on the continued growth of forest stumpage. The first is from a poor underdeveloped agricultural country into a modern industrial park. This means an important release of the land from agriculture to forestry as a result of the huge increase in agricultural efficiency. Another reason for increasing forest resources is the belief in the importance of having better forests in the future. The concept of sustainable or uniform increases in production is part of this belief, especially in the case of more intensive afforestation.
