Streptomyces ravidus NRRLHov.sp. 1130, a strain of Streptomyces belonging to the family Retinaculum Apertum, was isolated from the soil of Guatemala to produce a new antibiotic Ravidomycin that inhibits the gram-positive bacteria. Antibiotics were extracted from mycelium by organic solvent and purified by silica gel column chromatography. The bright yellow crystals were obtained from ether, and the empirical formula C_ (31) H_ (33) NO_9 was obtained. λmax 246 and 286 nm. The minimum inhibitory concentration is Streptococcus pyogenes sensitive strains and resistant strains 3.2 ~ 12.5μg / ml; human
