The advent of new high-speed remote access technologies such as 56K Modem, Cable Modem and xDSL poses a serious threat to the ISDN technology, which has more than 20 years of history. Recent ISDN implementations, including ISDN over POTS, AlwaysOn / Dynamic ISDN and PCS GSM 1900 wireless technologies, provide a glimmer of new light to ISDN. ISDN over POTS ISDN is now able to transmit data over the POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) line. In addition to the basic rate interface (BRI) analog lines now available, ISDN over POTS is added to the line Multiple BRI links. This extends the available bandwidth for a Class 3 phone line to at least three B-channels and one D-channel, ie, 3B + D.
