The “urban people”, “rural people” and household registration system used to be an incomparable gap between the two. They separated the Chinese people in two “worlds” where the material and cultural differences were great. People of different worlds have different destinies. It can be said that the hukou is a special document closely related to the social life of the Chinese people. Everyone’s birth, schooling, employment, joining the army, marriage and migration ... are all subject to the household registration system. You may think you have lived in a big city for seven or eight years, or at least counted as a city. However, account to tell you that you are just here, “temporary population” and “foreign population.” Looking forward to the new millennium, what fundamental changes will our country’s population management system have? Will the traditional household registration management system be canceled? ... We have discussed these issues of people’s concern.
