Objective To study the changes of emotional state during 2h exposure under medium intensity noise condition and its correlation with noise sensitivity and Eysenck personality. Methods Fourteen male subjects were randomly assigned to receive either 50 dB (A) (control), 75 dB (A) and 85 dB (A) for 2 h. POMS questionnaires were performed at 0.5 h, 1 h, and 2 h. The scores of negative emotions such as “stress” increased with the increase of noise intensity, while those of energetic scores decreased. During the 2-hour exposure, the score of negative emotions gradually increased, while the energetic score increased at 0.5h, returned to the control level at 1h, and then decreased again. In the early stage of noise exposure, subjects with high noise sensitivity had higher energetic scores than those with low noise sensitivity. There was a positive correlation between the score of E and the increase of negative emotion scores such as fatigue in EPQ. Conclusion The noise has a certain influence on the emotion of the subject, which is related to the noise sensitivity of the subject and the personality of Eysenck.
