方正科技电脑系统有限公司的前身为北大方正计算机系统工程公司,主要从事个人电脑开发、制造、销售与服务。1995年11月6日,北大方正正式推出自有品牌方正电脑(Founder PC)。现在她已拥有包括方正商祺商用电脑、方正圆明服务器、方正美仑工作站,方正颐和笔记本电脑和方正卓越家用电脑在内的产品体系。方正的计算机系统是逐步发展起来的,1996年初,公司的规模还很小,整个公司仅有4～50人,每年的业务量也只有3—4万台。当时公司正着手于商务物流系统管理的计算机化,到1996年底公司局域网已实现了Internet接入。经过几年的努力,公司年生产能力已经达到100万台,从原来的4.50人发展到现在的500人,并拥有分公司27个。1997年7月方正在国内企业中率先将群件技术应用于公司内部的信息管理系统中,实现了无纸化办公,1998年3月,为了实现统一的管理,公司将商务物流管理系统延伸至遍布全国的分公司,实现了统一的商务物流控制和管理,到1998年10月,为了适应公司发展的需要,将北京总部的局域网扩展成覆盖全国所有分公司和销售大区的广域网,把身处全国各地的每一位员工用网络技术联接起来,实现了管理结构的扁平化。
