At the turn of the 20th century American South witnessed great changes because of suffering defeat in the civil war.Lillian Helman’s The Little Foxes just told a story happened in a small town of Deep South in this period.Taking this novel as exemplification,this thesis mainly focuses on transition in the region during this period and sings an elegy for the lost old American South.
