This article describes a video scan converter that receives a digitized data from a source such as a radar receiver at any given scan rate (eg, PPI) at a low radar scan rate, The format of the data is converted to a standard television raster or other right-angle raster system suitable for display on a CRT and displayed at a flicker-free rate. Thanks to the RAM (Random Access Memory), it is more flexible and economical than the other digital scan converters used to date. The conversion of the video data format is accomplished by generating the appropriate write address when data is written to the RAM which exactly reflects the functional relationship between the original data format and the displayed format. This allows for a simple counter to address the RAM at a desired rate at read-only.
