French citizen literature refers to the literature that represented the interests of the general public in France during the Middle Ages and reflected the feelings, tastes and worldviews of the citizen class. Starting from the middle of the Middle Ages, with the establishment and development of the city, the citizen class grew and grew in France. Its contradictions and struggles with the feudal ruling class were also aggravating day by day. The civic literature reflecting the life and struggle of the civic class came into being.
