The Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) is the first design of the U.S. Navy’s next generation of surface warships. LCS is smaller than the Navy’s guided missile destroyer as a relatively small surface vessel operating in the Littoral area (near the coast), similar to the international designation of frigates. Single ship “free ” level using conventional single design, and double the number of ships “independent ” level is the use of three-body design. The Coronado is the second ship of independent level, the fourth of the entire Littoral Combat Ship project, launched in January 2012 and serviced in April 2014 to be operated by San Diego, California Homeport. July 19, 2016 In the “RTH-2016” military exercise, the ship was the first to test-fire “Harpoon” anti-ship missiles at the front deck.
