语言是文化的载体,语言教学与文化教育密不可分,相互依存。不少语言现象需要借助文化背景知识的介绍才能厘清,不少文化现象也必须通过语言这种载体才能得到体现。所以,外语教学既是语言知识的传授,更是跨文化意识的培养。接触和了解英语国家的文化有益于对英语的理解和使用,有益于加深对本国文化的理解与认识,有益于培养学生的世界多元文化意识。笔者结合自己的教学实践,以笔者所任教的上海市长征中学为例,探讨文化输入的具体策略。长征中学是一所以英语口语见长、有着十多年国际教育交流经验的“国际学校”。十多年来,学校先后共聘请了三十多名外籍教师担任英语口语教学工作,并充分利用外教资源为学生开设英语角、英语沙龙、英语口语节、英国文化周等活动,促进学生的英语学习。
Language is the carrier of culture, language teaching and cultural education are inseparable and interdependent. Many linguistic phenomena need to be clarified with the introduction of cultural background knowledge, and many cultural phenomena must also be manifested through the language of such a carrier. Therefore, foreign language teaching is not only the impartation of language knowledge, but also the cultivation of cross-cultural awareness. Contact and understanding of the culture of English-speaking countries is conducive to the understanding and use of English, is conducive to deepening understanding and understanding of their own culture, and is conducive to cultivating students’ awareness of multiculturalism in the world. The author combines his own teaching practice with the example of Shanghai Changzheng Middle School, which I teach, to discuss the specific strategies of cultural input. Changzheng Middle School is an “international school” that is known for its spoken English and has more than 10 years of experience in international education exchange. For more than a decade, the school has recruited more than 30 foreign teachers as oral English teachers and made full use of foreign teachers ’resources to provide students with English Corner, English Salon, English Oral Festival and British Culture Week and other activities to promote students’ English Learn.
