湖北省应城市杨河镇黄畈村老虎冲过去是一个只见青天不见人影的荒山野岭。1987年,年仅24岁在城关家俱厂做木工的黄爱生和在城里开裁缝铺的妻子张翠兰放弃各自的手艺,回村承包了老虎冲。经过反复实地考察,分析市场,科学论证,他决定从养鸡、养鱼开始,滚动发展,综合开发老虎冲。白天,他们挖沟、做坝、割草,手脚都磨起了很大的血泡,他们不叫一声苦;晚上,呼啸的山风令人毛骨悚然,棚子里时有蛇、虫、蚂蚁、蜈蚣爬到床上。有几次,他和妻子被蜈蚣咬伤,但他们没有丝毫动摇。经过3个多月的辛苦劳作,硬是用双手挖成了1.3公顷渔池,搭起了100多平方米的鸡舍。
