The embedded structure is not closely related to the masonry tunnel or mine engineering, but has a greater relationship with the general soil-structure interaction field. Recently, the importance of buried structures in civil engineering has become increasingly significant. Therefore, the author tried to summarize the available analysis results and test work, and it is beneficial to engineers and scientists who have just engaged in this topic. The book consists of seven chapters: Chapter One: Introduction (including early history, modern conditions, vision for the future, and purpose of the book); Chapter Two: General principles (including arching, elastic stress distribution, and the nature of the earth); Chapter Three : Thick-walled pipes under static loading (concentrated trench excavation, frontal buried pipelines, reverse buried pipelines, wide and parallel pipelines, buried pipelines, concentration of free surfaces)
