This article studies the effect of mercapto collectors (xanthate, black drug, dithiocarbamate, and mixtures thereof) on the flotation of the Okiep copper ore rich in bornite. The ore copper grade is 1.8%. The effects of collectors on flotation indices were evaluated using batch flotation tests, including concentrate yield, water recovery, copper recovery, copper grade and Klimpel flotation rate constants. The experimental results show that diethyl dithiocarbamate (di-C2-DTC) is a weak collector for sulfide minerals. Concentrated copper recovery is highest with diethyl di-phosphorothioate (di-C2-DTP), foam contains more water, and copper concentrates have lower grade.
