Britain, Germany, Japan and other countries scientists to cultivate a genetically modified tomatoes, including carotene content of up to 3.5 times the average tomato, is conducive to vitamin A supplement for the human body. Professor Peter Bramley of the University of London in the United Kingdom and his foreign collaborators planted a gene of bacteria into tomatoes and turned the ochradine lycopene in tomatoes into lycopene, which is important for the synthesis of carotenoids.
