On November 15, China Shipping Group(China Shipping) announced the change of its leadership. Xu Lirong was appointed board chairman and Party group chief of the company, replacing Li Shaode, who retired because of the age. By then, the two shipping companies –COSCO and China Shipping – had finished the replacement of their leading executives.
Mao Dingzhi, head of the Fifth Cadre Office of the Central CPC Department of Organization was present in the meeting when the announcement was made. Mao personally announced the decision. Meanwhile, he announced the decision of appointing Zhang Guofa as the general manager of China Shipping.
Li Shaode was born in 1950. Prior to taking the chairmanship of the China Shipping, he was the board chairman of China Shipping Container Lines, a subsidiary company of China Shipping.
Xu Rongli graduated from the Oceanic Ship Steering Department of Dalian Maritime University. He also had the MBA at Shanghai Maritime University, as well as the title as the senior engineer. He began his work in March 21975 and once worked for Shanghai Ocean Shipping Company as the assistant to general manager and general manger. He also worked for several other shipping-related companies in Shanghai as the general manager or Party chief.
He was appointed general manager of China Shipping in August 2011 and at that time he was also selected into the board of directors of the company.
