This article describes a Foldback Cassegrain optical system that allows the infrared imager and the millimeter wave radar to operate simultaneously through a common aperture. Use the appropriate two-color coating and substrate materials, the infrared and millimeter-wave focus apart. The design was evaluated, the basic method is to establish a model and test its performance in the laboratory. Special attention should be given to the measurement in order to isolate each mode from being affected by the presence of another mode. The experimental results are given and the following conclusions are drawn through the analysis: This design is feasible, but some improvements are needed in the secondary mirror design and two-color conductive coating process. For the secondary mirror problem, a clear solution is proposed; and on the conductive coating problem, it is demonstrated that the technical requirements of the coating can be realized soon.
