This present study explores the translators style by comparing the linguistic features of two English versions of Lianghuiwang of Mencius translated by both native and nonnative translators at the lexical and the syntactic level respectively. The findings indicate that the Chinese translator,Wu Guozhen, takes a more target-reader oriented style by paying more attention to the vocabulary richness and structural variety. In contrast, the American translator,Bloom,is more source-text centered by following the vocabulary choice and word order of the source text more closely. The analysis of the translated text through the corpus can objectively, systematically, and effectively reveal the linguistic features of the translation text, thus reveal the translators style. The method and findings of the present study can shed some light on the English translation theory and practice of the Chinese classics in the new era.
