机件或工具的淬火工作,对于它的功用和寿命有很大的关系。但是淬火工作能不能得到良好的结果,还得看机件或工具本身的设计是不是合理和优良。所以设计工程师必须要仔细考虑一张机件或工具的图样。他必须要尽最大的可能,化最小的费用,应用最大的效率来完成工作,他必须记住在制造时,淬火时或使用时发生破裂或变形的基本原因。淬火后的钢件有一定的强度,强度的大小要看材料的成份,品质,和淬火情形而定。如果钢件所受到的力量超过了它的强度,它就要破裂。
