Assisted oxygen can reduce breathing difficulties at rest in COPD patients. The authors hypothesized that this was due to ① improved arterial oxygenation; ② decreased ventilation; and ③ airflow induced by nasal receptors. In this study, 8 patients with moderate to severe COPD were selected, who had dyspnea at rest, and more than 90 mmHg of PaO_2. FEV_1 / FVC less than 50%. Nasal lidocaine anesthesia before and after the nasal cannula to different flow
