Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of flunarizine (FNZ) in the treatment of migraine with epilepsy in children. Methods A total of 41 children with epilepsy with migraine were enrolled in the study. They were randomly divided into experimental group and control group. Children (8.76 ± 2.51) years of age; 29 males and 12 females. Twenty-two patients in the experimental group and 19 in the control group. The experimental group was treated with FNZ on the basis of antiepileptic drugs (AEDs), while the control group received only AEDs. The patients were followed up 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months respectively to evaluate their migraine, epileptic seizures and adverse reactions. Results There was no significant difference in age, gender, epilepsy, the onset of migraine and basic medication between the two groups (Pa> 0.05). The effective rate of epilepsy control in both groups was over 95% at 12 months of treatment, with no significant difference (P> 0.05). After treatment for 3 months, 90.9% of headache relieved in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group (68.4%) (P <0.05). After 6, 9 and 12 months of treatment, 85.7%, 90.5% and 85.7% Higher than the control group (73.7%, 78.9%, 72.2%), but the difference was not statistically significant (Pa> 0.05). There was no significant difference between the two groups (P> 0.05), but the difference was not statistically significant (P> 0.05) ). Conclusion AEDs control epileptic seizures at the same time, small doses of FNZ treatment of epilepsy migraine have a good effect, but more adverse reactions.
