氯黄晶产于次生石英岩中,共生矿物有:石英、叶腊石、绿帘石、黄铁矿、一水铝石等。该矿物无色透明,无解理,晶形为四面体、立方体和八面体,常见聚形。矿物粒径多小于0.05mm。D=2.88±0.05,N=1.584±0.002。不溶于氢氟酸。氯黄晶的电子探针分析结果(%):SiO_2 24.21,Al_2O_3 55.22,MgO 0.06,Na_2O 0.04,CaO0.01,TiO_2 0.01,MnO 0.01,Cr_2O_3 0.02。阴离子组分化学分析结果(%):CO_2 0.21,H_2O~+10.38,F 6.89,Cl 2.65。矿物化学式为:Al_(13)Si_5O_(20)[(OH)_(14)F_4]Cl。矿物粉晶X射线衍射主要特征线条为:7.985(53)(111),4.185(65)(311),4.008(67)(222),3.182(18)(331),2.83(32)(422),2.673(100)双线(333,511),2.115(20)(533),2.003(29)(444).1.806(22)双线(731,553)。1.635(29)双线(660,822)。氯黄晶红外吸收谱带(4000—2000cm~(-1))主要是OH的伸缩振动,(1200—200cm~(-1))为四次配位的Al—O、Si—O的伸缩振动和弯曲振动以及6次配位的Al—O的振动。
