来安县东寺港水库是座小(一)型水库,来水面积12平方公里,养鱼水面600亩,平均水深4.5米。周围植被良好,阔叶林的覆盖率约占65％,库内水质肥沃,没有污染,为鱼类生长繁衍提供了理想的生态环境,但过去由于“粗放粗养”,忽视科学养鱼,产量一直不高,1983—1986年,共投放鱼种8150公斤,捕鱼4.68万公斤,4年平均亩产19.5公斤,放养效益1:5.7。其中1986年捕鱼1.9万公斤,亩产31.6公斤,算是最好的水平。
