经学文本是中国哲学思想创新的源头活水,也是其生命智慧的根据。秦汉是中国社会体制、意识形态、价值观念大变革的时代,也是指导思想的理论基础和体现时代精神的核心话题重新选择的时期。法家、黄老思想虽然适应了某一阶段社会现实的需要,但很快就被边缘化或罢黜。汉武帝为解决所面临的地方诸侯王与中央王朝的冲突、匈奴的侵犯及政治思想上“百家殊方”等问题,以实现其大一统和长治久安的需要,采取开放的姿态,请各方人士及贤良文学之士,以对策方式提出建议和方案,经对五经中《诗》、《书》、《春秋》等的比较,最终确定以《公羊春秋》经作为意识形态指导思想的理论基础。之所以选择《公羊春秋》,是因为其大一统的国家观、通三统的改革论、张三世的历史观和夷夏变移论能够有效地化解当时社会所面临的冲突。
