Selective amplification is based on an in-depth study of NK cell immunobiology and receptor-ligand interactions. NK cells are not homogeneous population, NK cells expressing different membrane surface molecules vary in terms of secretion of cytokines and cytotoxic activity. In addition, in tumor immunotherapy, where the KIR receptor of NK cells does not match the HLA site, the number of unmatched NK cells significantly affects the effect of the treatment. Therefore, it is necessary to selectively amplify NK cells to enhance the killing effect of NK cells. This article summarizes the current factors that regulate the expansion of different NK cell subsets, and thus lay the foundation for the feasibility of selective expansion of NK cells.
