袖珍王国文莱,面积5765平方公里,人口近30万人。文莱依靠石油和天然气发家致富,人均国民收入两万多美元,是名列世界前茅的富裕国家。文莱首都斯里巴加湾,意为“辛福的城市”,是全国政治、经济、文化中心。全市人口占全国总人口的五分之一。生活在这座城市的居民有马来人、达雅克人、英国人、印度人、尼泊尔人和华人等。他们平均2.3人拥有一辆私人汽车、每3.8人拥有一部电话,其生活水产远远超过包括日本在内的许多工业化发达国家。近年来,外国游客以年均15％的幅度增加,已超过本国人口一倍以上。
Pocket Kingdom Brunei, an area of 5765 square kilometers, population nearly 300000 people. Brunei, rich in oil and natural gas, has per capita national income of more than 20,000 U.S. dollars, making it one of the richest countries in the world. The capital of Brunei, Bandar Seri Begawan, means “the city of Sin Foo” and is the political, economic and cultural center of the country. The city’s population accounts for one fifth of the country’s total population. Residents living in the city are Malay, Dayak, British, Indian, Nepalese and Chinese. An average of 2.3 people own a private car and have a phone call for every 3.8 people. Their livelihood far exceeds that of many industrialized countries, including Japan. In recent years, foreign tourists have increased by an average of 15% annually, more than double their population.
