Microsoft announced on September 12 that it will remove all Java applets from its Web site. Webmaster at www.microsoft.com urgently deleted as many as 570 or more Java applets on different Web pages and nodes within the company. Microsoft official Tim Sinclain explained that there are two considerations for making such a conclusion. Some Java applets are too large and downloading takes too long. Microsoft has always sought better compatibility with different browsers and platforms. Microsoft’s nodes currently receive 1.2 million hits per day and grow at a rate of 10% per month, so Microsoft’s nodes need to operate more efficiently.
