海底热液(即热水溶液的简称)乃是二十世纪海洋地质学中最重要的发现之一。从地球深处涌向海底的赤热、沸腾的含矿液流与寒冷的海水相遇,发生一系列的化学反应后,形成无数贵金属含量很高的固体矿粒,它们聚积后便成为海底巨大的“建筑物”。现在,海底热液活动已越来越引起世界各国学者的关注。
Seabed hydrothermal fluids (short for hot water solutions) are one of the most important discoveries of marine geology in the twentieth century. The red-hot, fiery ore-bearing stream that flows from the depths of the earth to the seabed meets a cold sea of water and undergoes a series of chemical reactions to form countless solid minerals with a high content of precious metals. After they accumulate, they become huge seabed “building”. At present, seabed hydrothermal activities have drawn more and more attention from scholars all over the world.
