地理标志是一种特定产品产地来源标识,它以质量作保证,导引着众多消费者的购买趋向,具有很高的卖点和重大的商业价值。地理标志受到世界贸易组织(简称WTO)的高度重视,在《与贸易有关知识产权协议》(简称TRIPS协议)中,将地理标志称作知识产权,要求各成员国给予保护,赋予其和商标、专利、版权等传统知识产权同等重要的地位。世界各国都通过国内立法或签订国际合约的办法来保证本国地理标志带来的利益最大化。
Geographical Indications is a source identification of a specific product origin, which guarantees quality and guides the purchasing trend of many consumers. It has a high selling point and significant commercial value. Geographical indications are highly regarded by the World Trade Organization (WTO). In the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (the TRIPS Agreement), geographical indications are called intellectual property rights, and each member state is required to grant protection and give it a trademark. Patents, copyrights and other traditional intellectual property rights are equally important position. All countries in the world have guaranteed the benefits brought by their geographical indications through domestic legislation or signing international contracts.
