2013年2月25日,印度“极轨卫星运载火箭”(PSLV)成功发射了加拿大“蓝宝石”(Sapphire)军用卫星,这是加拿大首颗军用卫星。一同发射的还包括有印度和法国共同研制的“萨拉尔”(SARAL)海洋卫星、加拿大“近地物体监视卫星”(NEOSSat)、奥地利UniBRITE、BRITE,丹麦AAUSAT-3,英国STRaND-1共7颗卫星。“蓝宝石”卫星由加拿大国防部负责,旨在提升加拿大军方空间监视能力。
On February 25, 2013, India’s “Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle” (PSLV) successfully launched its Canadian “Sapphire” military satellite, Canada’s first military satellite. Launched together include the SARAL marine satellite jointly developed by India and France, Canada, NEOSSat, Austria UniBRITE, BRITE, Denmark AAUSAT-3, the United Kingdom STRaND-1 total of 7 satellites. “Sapphire ” satellite by the Canadian Defense Department is responsible for enhancing the Canadian military space surveillance capabilities.
