犹太主义是在美国文化霸权主义时期存在的少数民族文化的一个主要分支,而精神超越是其内涵体现不可或缺的特点之一。在著名的美国犹太裔作家伯纳德·马拉默德的代表作之一《店员》中,作者成功地刻画出小说的两个主要人物:莫里斯·鲍伯,一个贫穷的犹太裔杂货店店主和弗兰克·阿尔帕恩,一个自愿做他的店员的意大利流浪汉。尽管对于宗教有着完全不同的认知,莫里斯和弗兰克仍然在马拉默德充满怜悯和扭曲的幽默笔调下践行着犹太主义,最终经历了异化、受难坚定不移地完成了精神救赎和超越的心路历程,表达了对美好生活的向往与追求。
Judaism is a major branch of the ethnic culture that existed during the period of American cultural hegemony. Spiritual surpassing is one of the indispensable features of its connotation.
