We used the TP-77 ellipsometer to measure the optical constants of the Insb surface and explored the effect of different polishing methods on the refractive index of Insb. The angle of incidence we selected was 70 °. The first sample to be measured is a lint-polished Insb. Its surface has fish scales markings. Observed under a reading microscope, the surface covered with black holes. Ten samples were measured by ellipsometry. The average refractive index was n = 3.87 _ (- 0.15) ~ (+0.1). The extinction coefficient was k = 2.08 _ (- 0.08) ~ (+0.01). Then, the sample was again polished with a bitumen tray. Polishing solution is chromium dioxide, polished surface without fish scale pattern, the finish than with flannel polishing greatly improved. However, if carefully observed in the light, the surface is covered with very fine bright scratches, which may be related to chromium oxide as a polishing liquid.
