【Objective】 To determine the levels of lipids and lipoprotein (a) [Lp (a)] in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), and to understand the effects and significance of OSA on blood lipids and LP (a) levels. 【Methods】 Sixty-two patients were divided into normal control group, mild OSA and moderate and severe OSA according to respiratory distress index (AHI) by using polysomnography (PSG) a) level. 【Results】 The levels of total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein (LDL-C) and LP (a) in OSA group were higher than those in normal control group HDL-C in high and moderate-severe OSA group was significantly lower than that in normal control group. The TC, TG, LDL-C and Lp (a) of each group were positively correlated with AHI and the longest apnea time, and negatively correlated with the minimum oxygen saturation (minSaO2) and average blood oxygen saturation (meanSaO2). 【Conclusion】 Patients with OSA have abnormal lipid metabolism. Patients with severe OSA are more likely to have cardiovascular events.
