本文以系统功能语言学中的人际功能理论为框架,以40例携带负面信息的商务信函(20例源自商务活动实际,简称真实信函;另外20例源自商务英语信函写作教材,简称教材样函)为语料,通过对信函中采用的语气、情态、评价资源等语言手段的分析,指出真实信函和教材样函尽管传递的是负面信息,但信函作者通过上述语言手段,尝试构建平等、礼貌、积极、客观、强势、权威的自我身份。文章还通过量化对比,深入探讨两类来源的商务信函在人称代词选择、语法隐喻分布、判定资源和称谓使用上存在的差异,及其对自我身份构建的影响,以期为商务信函写作教材编写、课程教学或商务写作实践提供借鉴。
This paper, based on the interpersonal function theory of system functional linguistics, takes 40 cases of business letters carrying negative information (20 cases are from actual business activities, referred to as real letters for short) and another 20 cases originated from business English letter writing materials Letter) as the corpus, through analyzing the linguistic means such as the tone, modality and evaluation resources adopted in the letter, it is pointed out that despite the negative information being conveyed in the sample letters of genuine letters and textbooks, the author of the letter tries to construct the equality and politeness through the above linguistic means , Positive, objective, strong, authoritative self-identity. By quantitative comparison, the article further explores the differences between the two types of business letters in the selection of personal pronouns, the distribution of grammatical metaphors, the determination of the use of resources and appellations, and its impact on the construction of self-identity.
