延安交际舞最初是由外宾传授,从上层领导开始,并作为向封建势力的挑战,而逐渐时兴起来的。1937年1月13日,中共中央随红军总部进驻延安。同月底,美国人艾格尼丝·史沫特莱就以《法兰克福日报》记者的身份,到延安作为期7个多月的采访。来到延安的当天晚上,史沫特莱就分别见到了她心目中的英雄朱德和毛泽东。次日,中国文艺协会和新中华报社联合集会,热烈欢迎史沫特莱的到访。带有部分印第安血统,天生具有叛逆性格的史沫特莱,时年45岁,曾经游历过大半个世界。正是这样一位自称“大地的女儿”的史沫特莱,不仅在延安采访写作,联系促成白求恩大夫的援华,而且还倡导组织了灭鼠运
Yan’an Ballroom Dance was originally taught by foreigners, starting from the top leadership and gradually emerging as a challenge to the feudal forces. January 13, 1937, the CPC Central Committee with the Red Army headquarters stationed in Yan’an. At the end of the same month, the American Agnes Smedley interviewed Yan’an for a period of more than seven months in the capacity of a reporter for the Frankfurter Daily.
