As two of the most important abilities of language competence,speaking and writing remain two domains in which EFL researchers and language teachers show great interest.Though it is widely accepted that speaking and writing are related processes,to what extent they are correlated remains controversial,the present study is undertaken to explore the rehtionship which is inherent in speaking and writing and to provide reference for the promotion of positive interaction between them in EFL teaching,based on the cognitive theory and the theories of language learning.
